About Us

SBS SW LTD is a family built business with roots stretching back over 30 years in Leigh and the surrounding Sherborne area.

 

The story began in the early 1900s with Leslie Bartlett, who, after working as an electrical and maintenance engineer at Westlands, started his own building and maintenance firm alongside his full-time role. Known locally for his outstanding knowledge of extensions and structural work, Leslie built a reputation for quality, reliability, and honest workmanship.

 

Leslie encouraged his son, Ken Bartlett, to follow a trade of his own. Ken went on to train as a joiner and later established his own successful business, KL Bartletts, continuing the family tradition of skilled craftsmanship.

 

The next generation, Chris and Ed Bartlett, both developed specialist skills within the construction industry. Chris trained in preservation and damp control, while Ed became a fully qualified bricklayer. After gaining valuable experience in their respective fields, they brought their skills together to form what is now SBS SW LTD.

 

Sadly, Ed passed away in recent years, and his loss is deeply felt by everyone connected to the business. He was a highly respected tradesman whose dedication and workmanship continue to influence the standards we uphold today.

 

Chris has proudly continued the family legacy, keeping the business strong while honouring the values, skills, and work ethic that Ed helped build. With the support of a loyal and experienced team, SBS SW LTD remains committed to delivering outstanding results for every client.

 

Today, SBS SW LTD combines traditional building values with modern construction techniques. Our team of over 20 experienced tradesmen includes both long-standing professionals and the next generation of skilled workers  all sharing the same commitment to quality and customer care.
